It would seem that, if I am an author, I am expected to
write a blog as well as novels. This along with keeping up with various forms
of social media, cleaning up after a multitude of animals and generally doing
all the jobs society expects of me, such as housework. Sigh.
Well, so be it, but don’t expect daily updates. It’s at times like these that us unattached
writers feel at a disadvantage. We are
made constantly aware of authors with wives, husbands or various other style partners
who help support them, even if it only comes in the form of an occasional
coffee or encouraging word.
Oh, the bliss of
being able to come down in the morning, make a coffee and begin writing. For me, it’s a case of feeding the animals,
seeing to the ones outdoors, cleaning up the mess, feeding me, etc., before I
can even think about writing.
I will, however, prove to myself that I can
do this. Expect highs. Expect lows.
Expect rants. Expect jubilation. Oh, and please, would someone like to bring
me a cup of coffee?
But on the plus side, you haven't had to train your family not to interrupt you when you are in full flow. There's nothing more annoying than losing a sentence / vital plot point / perfect wording / critical idea because you're having to deal with someone else's bullshit -- despite the fact that they know these are the hours of 'Eff off and leave me alone!'
ReplyDeleteThen again, pets are quite good at the interruption thing. LOL
Good point, Eleanor, reminding me to count my blessings. Still wouldn't mind a coffee interruption now and then though.
