Why is it that most of us hate writing a synopsis (note I refrained from saying synopsises - there, I've said it)? After all, we've already done the hard stuff. We've come up with a complete story, thought through the plot lines and fleshed out our characters, so what is so hard? We may even have reduced the whole thing to a two-line logline, but the thought of condensing it to 1 or 2,000 words or just a page fills us with dread. It seems a far more impossible task than writing a novel in the first place. Perhaps the fear of putting in needless trivia whilst omitting important points is at the root of it. Has anyone any thoughts on this? I guess I'm just going to have to get on with it, reduce, add, tweek, adjust, remove, etc., until I'm satisfied. Groan.
