Why is it that most of us hate writing a synopsis (note I refrained from saying synopsises - there, I've said it)? After all, we've already done the hard stuff. We've come up with a complete story, thought through the plot lines and fleshed out our characters, so what is so hard? We may even have reduced the whole thing to a two-line logline, but the thought of condensing it to 1 or 2,000 words or just a page fills us with dread. It seems a far more impossible task than writing a novel in the first place. Perhaps the fear of putting in needless trivia whilst omitting important points is at the root of it. Has anyone any thoughts on this? I guess I'm just going to have to get on with it, reduce, add, tweek, adjust, remove, etc., until I'm satisfied. Groan.

Busy, busy, busy...

Have been busy typing up and tweeking a couple of older projects that I co-wrote with Viv Laine, as we've both enrolled for two comedy theatre workshops. We wrote a musical (using established rock classics), called RESURRECTION DAY, which is a cross between a 'Carry On' script and Burke & Hare. The other, and possibly the most exciting, is the pilot for a sitcom series, THE WRITE WAY. It's based around an unfortunate writers' group, of which both Viv and I have plenty of experience. Let's hope resurrecting these written works proves profitable.

Boxing Day Blues

You can tell it's Boxing Day; Jehovah's Witnesses out in force. Two visits so far. Geeky young fella first, then smiling elderly couple. I argued with the young chap for a short while and suggested he read my FATHER OF LIES. He declined, so I did the same with his offer of The Watchtower. Meanwhile, the great god, Consumerism, gains more converts with The Sales. Adherents work themselves up into a frenzy, where any common sense they had evaporates at the hint of a bargain price for something they don't need. Ah well, all religions have their down sides.
